Jaipur: A jeweller resisted three robbers at his showroom in Bajaj Nagar Monday afternoon and raised an alarm, forcing them to flee empty-handed. Police said the incident occurred around 3:10pm at the jewellery showroom owned by Pramod Shrimal at Arjun Nagar Phatak. Shrimal was alone at the time when three men, one after another, entered the shop posing as customers. The first man asked about earrings, which Shrimal said were unavailable. Shortly after, a second man entered, inquiring about a gold chain, only to receive a similar response — that gold chains were stocked only on pre-order. Moments later, a third man entered with his face covered.Sensing something was amiss, Shrimal stepped out from behind the counter to confront the trio. Suddenly, the masked man tried to grab him and push him towards the counter in an apparent bid to take him hostage. However, Shrimal resisted and managed to break free during the scuffle, sprinting towards the gate.As the robbers chased him, Shrimal threw open the door and began shouting for help. Startled by his cries and the likelihood of being caught, the three men turned and fled in the direction of the Arjun Nagar underpass. In the rush to escape, one of the suspects dropped a shirt and a bag at the shop’s entrance. The bag contained a rope and a hammer, indicating the gang came prepared for a planned robbery.Bajaj Nagar police, who arrived promptly at the scene, seized the bag and reviewed CCTV footage from the showroom. SHO Surendra Saini said teams had been dispatched to track down the suspects using footage that captured all three men. “We are analysing their movements near the underpass and across nearby colonies to identify and arrest the trio,” Saini said.
