Jaisalmer trader’s murder cracked, 2 held from Amritsar

Jaisalmer: Jaisalmer district police has arrested two key suspects and recovered stolen cash in connection with the recent murder of a trader and his accountant in the Mohangarh area. The arrests, which included the alleged mastermind, were made in Amritsar, Punjab, and the suspects were brought back to Jaisalmer. Police recovered Rs 9,20,750 looted during the crime. Earlier, another accused was arrested with the stolen car.SP Abhishek Shivhare stated that on Oct 21, 2025, Pankaj Kumar Saraswat reported the murder of his father Madanlal Saraswat and accountant Rewatram. The victims were killed on the night of Oct 20, 2025, by unidentified assailants who slit their throats and fled with cash and an Alto car. A case was registered at Mohangarh police station, and an immediate investigation was launched.Given the gravity of the crime, SP Shivhare visited the scene, formed a Special Investigation Team, and directed officers for prompt action. Under the leadership of Additional SP Pokhran and several Station House Officers, police coordinated efforts, gathered intelligence, and conducted raids across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.Investigators reviewed over 1,000 CCTV footages, which helped track the suspects to Punjab. Sukhwinder Singh, the main accused, and Anmolpreet Singh were apprehended in Amritsar. The police recovered the stolen cash from them. The investigation revealed that the accused had planned the crime meticulously. Before committing the murder, they sent their families out of the village, sold machines, and travelled with two relatives to Mohangarh to execute the robbery and murder.Police teams conducted continuous raids in various locations, including Balauch Kheda, Patti, Thakarpura, Makhu, Koth Ka Pura, Jeera, Bhaikheda, and Ratakheda. In Amritsar, teams searched around the Golden Temple, hotels, inns, and crowded areas before arresting the main accused and recovering the stolen money. The suspects were presented in court, and police custody remand was obtained.The investigation also revealed that the accused tried to mislead police by sending their families away and switching off their mobile phones in Bikaner before obtaining new SIM cards. However, technical evidence and CCTV footage exposed their movements. One accused, Param, remains absconding, and the search continues. Detailed interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing.
