Jaipur: Bajaj Nagar police Monday busted an illegal LPG refilling racket in Jaipur amid an ongoing cooking gas shortage, arresting two men and seizing 23 cylinders.Police said the racket was operating under the Gopalpura Pulia area, where 5 kg domestic LPG cylinders were allegedly being refilled and sold at inflated rates. The accused were reportedly charging around ₹500 per cylinder, exploiting the shortage.“We seized 23 LPG cylinders from the spot. Two individuals identified as Sanjay Kumar Goenka and Boni Poddhar were arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal operation. Both were engaged in unauthorised gas refilling, which not only violates safety regulations but also poses a serious risk of accidents and explosions,” said Poonam Chaudhary, SHO, Bajaj Nagar police station.Police said the raid followed specific inputs about illegal LPG trading in the area.A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved in the racket. Police said they are also trying to trace the source of the cylinders and establish how long the illegal refilling operation had been running.
