Jaipur: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed construction of the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway Link and will open it for traffic soon. With this link road, commuters can travel between Delhi and Jaipur within 3 to 3.5 hours.Speaking to TOI, BS Yadav, project director of NHAI (Dausa PIU), stated that the road is already constructed and ready to use. The authority is now waiting for a series of safety audits and the final nod from the headquarters.“Following the accident on the Ajmer Road in Dec 2024, we don’t want to take any risk. Safety is our priority. The safety audits are ongoing. Once we forward the report, the headquarters will announce the dates. We cannot reveal the exact date now, but this link road will open for traffic very soon,” Yadav told TOI.Once it opens, vehicles from Jaipur (coming from Rotary Circle) will take a slip lane at the Bagrana crossing to reach this linkway. On the other hand, traffic from the Ring Road will take a ramp of the cloverleaf and land on this linkway.Similarly, vehicles coming from the Bandikui side through this linkway will take an elevated ramp. The ramp of this cloverleaf has two exits – one for the Jaipur-bound flank of the Agra Road and the second for the Ring Road.NHAI officials claimed that this stretch will help vehicles travel between Jaipur and the entry and exit points of the DND (Delhi-Noida Direct) Flyway in 2.5 hours. However, it may take another 30 to 45 minutes to reach the Railway Station or the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Officials said the last missing link of this greenfield project was a ROB (Railway Overbridge). NHAI earlier planned to allow traffic on this road by the end of April by creating a small diversion in the absence of this ROB.“But we did not find the option safe and viable. Instead, we focused on constructing the ROB as fast as possible. We completed the ROB maintaining all safety standards,” added Yadav.
