Jaipur: India’s Physical Disability cricket team fielding coach Rohit Sharma has been doing duty as the side arm thrower with the Sri Lanka cricket team at the ongoing Asia Cup T20 Championships being played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).Rohit Sharma has been assisting the Sri Lankan squad as an important member of their support staff. With two thumping victories, Sri Lanka team has been topping the Group B with 4 points with an impressive NRR of +1.546. They have beaten Bangladesh and Hong Kong China in their two league matches so far. They will play their next match against Afghanistan on September 18. The Sri Lanka national cricket team’s support staff includes Sanath Jayasuriya as head coach, Aaqib Javed as fast bowling coach, Thilina Kandamby as batting coach and Upul Chandana as fielding coach. Rohit Sharma is coordinating with the support staff for his services. Rohit Sharma did duty as fielding coach of Indian team in the 2025 edition of the Physically Disabled Champions Trophy which was held early this year in Sri Lanka, where India defeated Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England and emerged champions. Ravi Chauhan, general secretary of DCCI, congratulated Rohit Sharma and wished him all the success for the new role with the Sri Lanka side. “This is a very important assignment for Rohit Sharma in the prestigious championships. Rohit is a very sincere and hard-working person. He did wonders with the Indian disabled cricket team and I am sure he will do a fantastic job with the foreign team also,” said Ravi Chauhan. Besides India, Sri Lanka is also one of the title contenders for the Asia Cup and most likely will play the final slated to be held on September 28 at Dubai.
