Jodhpur: Police here have apprehended an absconding accused who had been fooling cops in disguise of a woman. Officers had visited the residence of historysheeter Bittu alias Daya Shankar Valmiki several times in an attempt to arrest him, but each time they encountered a veiled woman at the house, unaware that the woman was in fact the accused himself. After two to three visits, police began to grow suspicious, but were initially hesitant to check the identity of the person behind the veil. On Thursday, police once again visited Bittu’s house and insisted that the host remove the veil. The charade finally failed and Bittu was arrested. According to police, Bittu had, in Feb this year, along with two accomplices severely assaulted a young man named Prince Chawla. The group had an ongoing dispute with Prince, and on the day of incident lured him under the pretext of reaching a compromise before brutally attacking him with glass bottles and sticks, leaving him in a semi-conscious state before fleeing.Since the incident, police had been searching for Bittu and the other accused. When Bittu was finally apprehended, he was dressed in a red sari, black blouse, mangalsutra, and a scarf covering his face. tnn
