Jaipur: A division bench of Rajasthan High Court Friday restrained the govt from using dilapidated school buildings or rooms in state and asked the govt to make suitable arrangements to ensure the study of the students in these schools is not affected. The state and Centre sought time from the HC which was granted. The state govt has admitted that across the state nearly 5,667 school buildings are dilapidated. The court of Justice Mahendra Kumar Goyal and Justice Ashok Kumar Jain gave these instructions during the preliminary hearing on the public interest litigation taken by the court after two single judge benches took suo motu cognisance of the conditions of the govt school buildings following the Jhalawar incident.During the hearing, R D Rastogi, additional solicitor general, sought some time to file the reply, and the advocate general, Rajendra Prasad, also sought some time, which was granted by the court.“After hearing the counsels for the respective parties, the state govt is restrained from using dilapidated school buildings/rooms till further orders. However, the state govt shall make suitable alternative arrangements so that the study of the affected students is not hampered,” said the bench. tnn
