Jaipur: A single judge bench of Rajasthan High Court has asked the govt to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission of India in appointing teachers as block level officers (BLO). At the same time, the court has asked the petitioner to submit their grievances to the state election officer in two weeks, and the officer should decide on it in four weeks as per the ECI guidelines. The court of Justice Maneesh Sharma clarified that authorities should appoint a BLO to the teacher who is a voter of the part number of the assembly constituency. Justice Sharma gave this order while hearing the petition of Rajendra and others on Aug 22. The copy of the order was uploaded Tuesday. In the petition, counsel for the petitioners, Vijay Pathak, said that the petitioners are working as Grade III teachers and additional administrative officers in the schools of Hindaun and Karauli assembly constituencies.“They were appointed as BLOs of the constituency which is away from the constituency where they are voters. We challenged this in the high court and informed that as per the recent instructions of the ECI and the State Election Commission, the personnel named as voter in the voter list of the booth can be appointed to the post of BLO in the constituency. Also, the teachers who are not included in the voter list of that assembly have been exempted from appointment to the post of BLO. Despite that, petitioners were appointed as BLO in another assembly constituency,” Pathak argued. TNN
