Jaipur: Two days after assailants fired at the house of a Congress worker in Bikaner, an accountant was shot dead in the neighbouring Hanumangarh district Friday, reviving fears of organised syndicates regrouping in the region.SP (Hanumangarh) Hari Shankar identified the victim as Vikas Kumar Jain (38). He was killed by two unidentified assailants in the office located in Sangaria town’s Krishi Upaj Mandi, where he worked for a small commodities firm. His body was discovered in the office Friday afternoon. “The victim worked for many years at a small salary. The motive behind the crime is unclear,” Shankar said.Sangaria Dy SP, Karan Singh said the company’s owner denied receiving any threats. “The firm dealt in National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited. The owner said he did not receive any intimidation,” Singh said, adding that police were still examining whether organised criminal gangs were involved in the murder.Hours later, a purported social media post surfaced by Arzoo Bishnoi, a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a suspect in the Baba Siddique murder case. In the unverified post, Arzoo, along with Bishnoi gang members Harry Boxer and Shubham Lunker, claimed responsibility for Jain’s murder. The post alleged that Jain was a trusted aide of the firm’s owner, who was accused of colluding with rival gang members like Vicky Gaunder. It further accused the company owner of financially aiding rivals and warned him of consequences.Sources monitoring the Bishnoi syndicate said the gang is facing a split after Lawrence Bishnoi’s fallout with his once-close associate Rohit Godara, who fled abroad and orchestrated high-profile killings, including gangster Rajput Theth and Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. “Godara has roots in Bikaner and built networks there. After parting ways with Lawrence, he aligned with another group, issuing threats. Now Lawrence’s faction seems determined to reclaim its ground,” an official said.On Wednesday, Harry Boxer claimed responsibility for firing at the homes of Congress worker Dhanpat Chayal, a two-time former district youth wing president, and his brother in Bikaner, allegedly over a Rs 5-crore extortion demand.
