Udaipur: Governor Haribhau Bagde accepted the resignation of Sunita Mishra, vice-chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) in Udaipur, Thursday.Mishra had been on leave since controversies over her remarks two months ago and students had staged several protests against her. In a letter issued by Raj Bhavan, it was stated that the divisional commissioner (Udaipur) committee is investigating the complaints received against Mishra. Further action will be taken based on its report. Mishra came under fire when she described Aurangzeb as an efficient administrator and Akbar as great during a university programme. The statement sparked sharp reactions among students and teachers. Student leaders of university locked her in her own chamber where she remained trapped for six hours. After the controversy, Mishra said her statement was presented in a distorted manner. Mishra was appointed on Aug 6, 2023 and after the controversy, citing personal reasons, she had sent her resignation to Raj Bhavan.
