Jaisalmer: Two more Great Indian Bustard (GIB) chicks were born at the Godawan Captive Breeding Centre in Sam-Sudasari, Jaisalmer, taking the total number of birds at the centre to 72, officials said.Four GIB chicks have been born this month at the breeding centre located in Desert National Park (DNP). Officials said the success was achieved through a combination of artificial insemination and natural breeding.Deputy conservator of forests, DNP, B M Gupta said, “A wave of joy swept through the conservation centre when two more Godawan chicks were born Saturday and Sunday, with one chick born entirely through natural means and the other through artificial insemination.”He said the parents of the chicks also drew attention, with one chick born from the pair of ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Lio’, while the other was born from ‘Aman’ and ‘Sem’. tnn
