Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot Wednesday condemned the BJP govt’s decision to remove a chapter on social reformer Jyotiba Phule from the political science curriculum of Rajasthan University.Taking a dig at both BJP and RSS, he said they were tampering with education in an attempt to promote a particular ideology. Gehlot said it was highly condemnable to remove the chapter on Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, who dedicated his life to eradicating social evils and promoting girls’ education. “This decision is a significant blow to those who draw inspiration from Mahatma Phule’s ideas,” he said.“They are mistaken in thinking that by removing the chapter on Mahatma Phule, who worked for the welfare of the marginalised and oppressed, they will succeed in their agenda. The BJP govt should immediately reinstate this chapter into the syllabus,” added Gehlot. TNN
