Udaipur: In a major crackdown on organised crime, police Sunday arrested four members of the Naresh Harijan gang and seized three illegal country-made pistols, one magazine and two live cartridges in the Subcity Centre area of Hiran Magri. Under directions of Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal, the operation was carried out by a joint team of the District Special Team and Hiran Magri police station. DST in-charge ASI Vikram Singh had received a tip-off about some criminals roaming around the Subcity Centre Hiran Magri area looking to sell illegal weapons. Teams were immediately formed under the supervision of ASP Umesh Ojha and CO Chhagan Purohit, led by SHO Bharat Yogi.The police team cordoned off the area and arrested Pushpendra Singh Rathore alias Lalla, a resident of Surajpol; Kamlendra Singh Gahlot alias Rahul, Surajpol; Aditya Puri Goswami alias Anshu, Govardhan Vilas; and Gautam Handeriya, Hiran Magri. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused had received these weapons from Naresh Harijan about six months ago. Naresh Harijan himself is wanted by police in several cases.All four arrested accused have serious criminal records in various police stations of the city, including cases of assault, attempt to murder and offences under the Arms Act. Police have registered cases against these criminals not only under the Arms Act but also under serious sections of organised crime under BNS 2023 which will make it difficult for them to get bail and escape punishment.
