Bhilwara: Chittorgarh police Thursday arrested four members of a burglary gang involved in a string of thefts in the city and seized the tempo used in the crimes.Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi said the arrests followed a case in which unidentified thieves had broken into Anand Super Market, owned by Ashish Chhipa, on Chittorgarh–Bhilwara Road during the night of Oct 13–14. Goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 4,200 in cash were stolen. A special team led by Kotwali Station Officer Tulsiram, under the supervision of ASP Sarita Singh, traced the culprits — Nishar Mohammad (25), Imran Mohammad (28), Abhishek Damami (25), and Jagdish Jatiya (24). During interrogation, they confessed to the theft and admitted involvement in three other burglaries in the city. Tripathi said gang leader Nishar Mohammad, who owned a CNG tempo, conducted daytime recces of locked shops and houses while posing as a passenger driver. At night, he and his aides broke into targeted premises, stole goods, and divided the loot. Police have recovered the tempo and are investigating their links to other similar crimes.
