Jaipur: Four flights, including one international flight to Muscat, were cancelled from Jaipur International Airport (JIA) due to airspace restrictions Wednesday. Domestic flights to Chandigarh and Hindon (Ghaziabad) airports, where operations have been suspended until May 10, were cancelled from Jaipur airport in the early hours of Wednesday.The Jaipur airport issued a statement urging passengers to check with airlines about flight status in advance. “Due to airspace restrictions and closure of certain airports across the country, flight operations may be impacted. Passengers are requested to check with their respective airlines on the status of their flights,” said a statement issued by the Jaipur airport.Many passengers took to social media, writing to airline companies with queries on whether it was safe to travel over the next few days. “We have our flight tickets tomorrow (May 8) from Dibrugarh, Assam, to Jaipur and return on May 11. But due to the ongoing situations, we are not feeling safe to travel. But the airline is charging total cancellation fees…” shared a passenger on X.Due to the airspace restrictions, many scheduled flights were also impacted as passengers were assigned connecting flights. In a statement, Indigo airlines requested passengers to check flight status before reaching the airport as flights to and from Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kishangarh are impacted “by the current airspace restrictions”.The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) also issued instructions to all depot managers from a security point of view. Officials were instructed to ensure proper maintenance of firefighting equipment and to check if all equipment is functional. The instructions further state that people should not unnecessarily go near diesel pumps in workshops of the corporations, keep water storage tanks filled, security guards should be kept on alert mode at bus stands, numbers of police stations and fire office should be mentioned at all bus stands, and announcement systems at bus stands should be in working condition.
