Jaisalmer: With 79-year-old former minister Hemaram Chaudhary having spent 10 days at a protest site in the open in severe cold in Dhorimana, seeking withdrawal of the state govt’s redrawing of district boundaries of Barmer and Balotra, former deputy CM Sachin Pilot, state Cong chief Govind Singh Dotasra, and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, among others, are set to reach Dhorimana Wednesday to lend their support. They will join a rally from the protest site to the SDM’s office to submit a memorandum, and address a public meeting. Chaudhary said the demand is simple: that Gudamalani and Dhorimana remain in Barmer district, instead of being included in Balotra. The state govt issued a notification on the night of Dec 31 to change the boundaries of Barmer and Balotra districts. The notification only came to light on Jan 2 through media reports. People from Gudamalani and Dhorimana began a dharna at the protest site in Dhorimana on Jan 3. On the second day of the dharna, Chaudhary joined the protest and has remained at the site through day and night amid a severe cold wave in the region. As per the schedule shared by organisers of Wednesday’s rally and public meeting, Pilot will reach Jodhpur airport from Delhi and then travel to Dhorimana. Dotasara and Jully are expected to reach Barmer by train at 6am, from where they will travel by road to Dhorimana before leaving for Jodhpur.
