Kota: In a major crackdown against criminals and their illegally earned assets, and in action, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in the state under section 107 of BNSS, Bundi police, in compliance with an order by the additional chief judicial magistrate court, initiated action of attachment and seizure of illegal property valued at Rs 12 crore belonging to a murder and flesh-trade accused under Section 107 of Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita-2023 in Bundi. ‘The backbone-breaking action against criminals was possible only because of stringent sections under the new law, and it marks a new chapter in the history of law and order in Rajasthan,’ Bundi SP Rajendra Kumar Meena (IPS) told TOI. He noted that by exercising section under 107 of BNSS, the police on Friday initiated the attachment and seizure of illegal property worth Rs 12 crore belonging to the city’s hotel operator, Banwari Shekhar, acquired through immoral flesh trade and illegal activities. The action to attach the illegal assets was initiated in compliance with an order by the ACJM court passed on Oct 4. Banwari Shekhar (36), along with his aides, allegedly murdered a 25-year-old youth at his hotel on NH-52 in Ramganj Balaji village under Bundi Sadar police station in March this year and was arrested soon after, ASP Uma Sharma said. During the investigation, the police exposed a flesh-trade being operated by Banwari in the hotel and detained some women from the spot. She added that Banwari and his aides are still in jail under judicial custody. On basis of investigation, the police conducted assessment of Banwari’s assets through records from public works department, revenue and transport departments and approached the court for permission for attachment of property. Banwari Shekhar operated a brothel, and with the money earned through flesh-trade and other illegal activities, he created assets of two hotels – one hotel on NH-52, the illegal portion of which was demolished and the building seized, and the other near Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve (RVTR) in the district, which is now being attached, including residences, plots, agricultural land, bikes, and luxury cars, Bundi SP said. Banwari’s bank accounts will also be seized, he added. It
