FIR registered after law student alleges ragging at pvt city college

Jaipur: An undergraduate law scholar at a private college in the city has filed a complaint accusing a group of senior students of beating him up in an alleged case of ragging. A complaint regarding the Dec 12 incident was filed at Shivdaspura police station Sunday.A case has been registered, and police said preliminary investigations suggest the incident was a scuffle between students and not a case of ragging, as alleged. The complaint filed by a Sanganer resident alleges that his son, a BA LLB student at a private college, had been the victim of sustained ragging for some time. When he finally started protesting on Dec 12, several students set upon him, it says. One of the accused attacked him with a knife, leaving him with a deep gash above the eye and causing profuse bleeding, police said, quoting the complaint. The assailants reportedly fled the scene soon after the incident.Police teams are currently conducting raids to nab the students named in the FIR. “No evidence of ragging has been established so far, but we are probing the case from every angle,” a police officer said.
