Jaipur: Jaipur (rural) police Tuesday cracked an old burglary case reported in Jobner earlier this year with the help of fingerprint evidence, leading to the arrest of two men currently lodged in separate jails in Rajasthan. The burglary took place on the night of Jan 24 at a house in Ganesh Vihar Colony, Hingonia, Doongri. The complainant approached Jobner police the next day, reporting that the house had been broken into and valuables stolen. The stolen items included a gold chain, a pair of earrings, a topaz stone, a mangalsutra, silver anklets and bangles, Rs 35,000 in cash, clothes, an LED TV, an ATM card, and a gas cylinder. Police launched an investigation combining local intelligence, technical surveillance, and forensic analysis. Fingerprints lifted from the scene were sent to the Fingerprint Bureau, which matched them to Roshan Meena, a resident of Goria in Sikar district, currently lodged in Bikaner District Jail.“Fingerprint evidence remains a crucial tool in criminal investigations, especially when there’s no CCTV footage or mobile tower data,” said an investigating officer. “In this case, the precision of the break-in indicated the involvement of experienced criminals,” he added.Meena was brought to Jobner on a production warrant. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and named his associate, Hazarilal Meena of Nayabas in Neem Ka Thana, who is currently in Neem Ka Thana Jail. Police said efforts are underway to recover the stolen items and identify any other members of the gang. tnn
