Jaipur: Farmers affiliated with the Kisan Mahapanchayat said in press conference in Jaipur Friday that they will hold a protest march to Jaipur from different districts to express their dissatisfaction with the state govt’s failure to meet their demands on Dec 30.Key grievances include inadequate procurement processes, forced sales below the minimum support price, power cuts, and delays in fertiliser availability. Farmers also criticised the govt’s handling of crop damage compensation, issues with licensed traders not remunerating for purchased crops, and insufficient compensation for land acquisition.They also complained of daytime power cuts despite prior announcements, the tagging of unwanted products such as nano urea and DAP with traditional fertilisers, long queues for fertilisers, delays in compensation for crops damaged by natural calamities, and pending claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.Additionally, farmers said that licensed traders in agricultural produce markets often fail to pay them after purchasing crops. They also raised concerns over inadequate compensation for land acquisition, lack of proper rehabilitation and resettlement, and crop losses caused by stray and wild animals. They alleged that during such crises, the govt appears more focused on acquiring farmers’ land than standing with them.President of Kisan Mahapanchayat, Rampal Jat said, “Preparations are underway for 50,000 farmers to gather in Jaipur on Dec 30 to save agricultural land and farmers. The govt is bent on snatching farmers’ lands due to capitalist and feudal thinking that nurtures colonialism. Farmers are angry and this has already manifested on roads at various places.” He said that farmers have urged the govt to cancel the nine Green Field Expressways being built in Rajasthan, including the one being built from Kotputli to Kishangarh. “In Rajasthan, construction of nine expressways was announced in the budget for 2025-26, of which work on ‘Bharatpur-Byawar’ and ‘Kotputli-Kishangarh’ is about to begin. From the perspective of food security, provisions were made in the land acquisition law that came into existence from Jan 1, 2014, to stop acquisition of irrigated and multi-crop agricultural lands. Despite this, acquisition of such lands continues, for which a proviso has been added to pave the way,” he added.
