Jaipur: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, Jaipur police have busted a racket involving fake dairy products and adulterated spices, raising concerns over public health and food safety.Around 1,000kg of fake paneer and 800 litres of adulterated ghee were seized during the operation in Jawahar Nagar police station area late Sunday night.Police said a suspicious pickup vehicle was intercepted around 9pm at Shanti Path while unloading goods at a unit named Quality Paneer Center. “On inspection, nearly 1,000kg of fake paneer and 800 litres of adulterated ghee were recovered,” a senior officer said Monday.Ghee was stored in large drums, while paneer was packed in small boxes and kept under ice to appear fresh and evade suspicion.“A total of 11 containers, each containing about 80–90kg of paneer, were seized along with a substantial quantity of cream,” an officer said.Preliminary probe revealed the consignment was brought from Mewat and was to be supplied to small dairy outlets across Jaipur, where it would be sold as genuine products.Police said surveillance in the area had been intensified after seizure of 250kg fake mawa and paneer around Holi, which led to the latest breakthrough.
