Jaipur: Health dept will issue notices to multiple parties, including Amul, as part of its investigation into the alleged tampering and planned resale of 1.5 lakh kg of expired Amul-branded products, officials said. Those likely to receive notices include Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union, Gujarat (Amul); Advansis India Private Limited; and Jaipur-based Athlete Distributor. In the initial probe, the Commissionerate of Food Safety and Drug Control found that Athlete Distributor’s licence had recently expired.“We will serve notice to Amul. It does not mean they are involved in the case, but it is required under Food Safety and Standards Act,” said T Shubhamangala, commissioner, CFSDC. She said Amul had an MoU with Advansis India Pvt Ltd for supply of products, while Gagan Ahuja of Athlete Distributor had purchased near-expiry goods from Advansis.Officials said they seized machinery used to erase expiry dates and relabel products, along with new packaging boxes. The inquiry is also tracing the source of the packaging material. tnn
