Jaisalmer: The Indian Army’s Southern Command conducted the exercise Vajra Ghaat at Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer district Monday, demonstrating the combat capabilities of the K9 Vajra self-propelled artillery gun system in desert warfare conditions.Exercise was spearheaded by White Tiger Division, focusing on validating refined Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) aimed at enhancing battlefield survivability and operational effectiveness. Drill showcased the Army’s ability to deploy heavy artillery assets swiftly in the harsh terrain of the Thar Desert.
The K9 Vajra gun system executed high-intensity fire missions, highlighting its speed, precision and lethality. Officials said advanced surveillance and technology-driven target acquisition systems were integrated to enable real-time identification and engagement of simulated enemy positions.This exercise reaffirmed the Army’s preparedness to undertake integrated combat operations in desert sectors by combining artillery firepower with modern sensors, communication networks and battlefield management systems. It highlights the coordination between traditional combat arms and emerging technologies.Validation of refined TTPs during the drill will strengthen the Army’s combat posture in the western sector.
