E-mitra operator held for mule bank accounts

Jaipur: Police arrested a 26-year-old e-mitra operator from Bikaner Sunday for managing mule accounts that directed money stolen from cyber fraud nationwide. In an unexpected development, it emerged that the accused had filed a complaint the previous year against his own gang members after they allegedly withheld his share, a move that ultimately revealed his key role in the cyber crime activities.Addl SP, cyber crime, Khan Mohammed said Dharmaram Jat from Hiyadesar village in Nokha had been operating mule accounts. He persuaded people to open bank accounts that were used to receive fraudulent transfers. The funds were quickly withdrawn through ATMs or cheques, with the account holders receiving a 10% commission while the majority was redirected to the gang. tnn
