Domestic help held for stealing jewellery

Jaipur: A 25-year-old domestic help was arrested by the city’s Sadar police station Wednesday for allegedly stealing ancestral jewellery and valuables from her employer’s home.The theft came to light when family members discovered that a gold diamond set and other items were missing after a wedding function.Additional DCP (West) Alok Singhal said that a case was registered following a written complaint by Vaibhav Bhojwani on June 29. He said that his father, Yogesh, brought jewellery home from their locker on June 21 for a family wedding in Ajmer held the next day. After the wedding, the ornaments were kept in a cupboard and were not yet returned to the locker due to work commitments.On June 29, Vaibhav’s sister, Tiya Bhojwani, noticed several items missing, including a gold diamond set, a pair of gold tops, and a silver wristwatch. Despite a thorough search by the family, the valuables could not be located. A case was registered at Sadar Police Station, and the investigation was handed to sub-inspector Sumit Kanwar.Under the supervision of ACP Sadar Dharmveer Singh and station officer Sajjan Singh, a team was formed, which included SIs and constables from Sadar police station. The team gathered information about individuals who had access to the household during the wedding period.Domestic help Rajni Kaur, a resident of Barodia Basti, was questioned. Though she initially denied involvement, police said she eventually confessed during technical and scientific interrogation. Based on her confession, police recovered the stolen items, including the gold diamond set, gold tops, silver watch, and an old mobile phone.Kaur has been remanded to judicial custody.
