Jaipur: The country’s first cloud seeding trial using drones at Jamwa-Ramgarh dam in Rajasthan has been held up due to the delay in giving permission by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for flying drones at high altitudes. Currently, drones are only allowed to fly up to 400 feet, but the trial requires drones to operate at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet. On Monday, the state’s agriculture minister, Kirori Lal Meena, said that he had sought a meeting with Union civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu for the necessary clearances.Without timely approval, the project may miss the monsoon window as clouds typically form at a lower height during this period, experts warned. A test flight was attempted on Aug 12 but was aborted midway.On Monday, TOI spoke to Meena about his plans to meet Naidu.
