Jaipur: Health minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar Tuesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Dermatology Institute at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and launched the Raj-Mamta programme for mental health under this year’s budget provisions.Khimsar said Raj-Mamta will boost awareness and treatment for mental health amid rising stress. A Centre of Excellence for mental health will be set up at SMS Hospital, along with district-level mental health care cells where psychiatrists and psychological counsellors will be available. The programme also includes stress management workshops, awareness drives in educational institutions and counselling sessions in schools.On the new dermatology institute, Khimsar said it is equipped with advanced machines, including AI-based technology, and will improve diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases while offering “high-quality care at lower cost than private hospitals.”Khimsar directed officials to assess vacant posts based on OPD and IPD load, review village sub-health centres within two days, and ensure staffing is rationalised so that “two doctors are not posted against one position.” He also ordered installation of CCTV cameras at all health centres, improved hospital cleanliness, repairs of dilapidated buildings and adequate heat-wave preparedness.Health department officials said the department will tighten monitoring of basic service parameters, conduct daily reviews through the self-monitoring system, hold mock drills for emergencies, and strengthen focus on non-communicable diseases and geriatric care. They said work will also be reviewed on TB-Free India, vaccination, e-Upkaran, biomedical waste management and hospital land allotment.Officials also stressed achieving HPV vaccination targets, maintaining medicine availability, ensuring proper equipment use and organising TB screening camps in high-risk villages.
