Jaipur: Dengue cases have increased by 53% in the past 25 days in the state. According to the health department, the cases increased from 1,027 on Sept 1 to 1,575 on Sept 26, an increase of 548 cases.A health department official said dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the infective bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Patients with dengue complain of the abrupt onset of high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pains, a measles-like rash over the chest and upper limbs, and nausea and vomiting. Cases of dengue increase post-monsoon and people should take precautions, the official said.From Sept 1 to 26, Jaipur reported an increase of 51% in dengue cases, as cases increased from 143 to 216. Health department advised people to remove water from coolers and other small containers at least once a week. It said people should not wear clothes that expose arms and legs, and children should not be allowed to play in shorts and half-sleeved clothes. Stagnant water in drains, garbage, and coolers for more than a week is an alarm for dengue.Health department has issued directions for intensive screening in districts with higher cases of dengue. Directions have been issued for anti-larva activities according to the established protocol.
