Jaipur: State govt has announced that minor mineral quarry licence and mining lease holders can now submit their online applications for permit extensions till Sept 30.T Ravikanth, principal secretary (mines and petroleum), said Thursday, “This provision aims to assist quarry licensees and mining leaseholders who could not submit their extension applications by the initial March 31, 2025 deadline. The mines department released the formal notification on July 31.”He further stated, “Many leaseholders and public representatives had recently sought the chief minister’s intervention for an extension period. The chief minister subsequently approved this significant concession for small-scale mining sector participants.”The decision will benefit about 2,500 quarry licensees and leaseholders across Rajasthan. It will support small mining operators while safeguarding thousands of jobs and ensuring uninterrupted mining activities, officials said. “The policy particularly advantages local and small quarry licence holders, specifically those managing areas under one hectare, with more than 2,000 such operators expected to gain from this decision,” said an official.These mining leases and quarry licences primarily cover minerals such as sandstone, marble, limestone slabs, and Katla stone. The highest concentration of about 1,500 quarry licensees is located in Jodhpur and Balesar. Other significant regions are Bhilwara, Bijolia, Sojat, Makrana, Chittorgarh, Nimbahera, and Rajsamand.
