Jaipur: The murder of 34-year-old Parul Saini shocked Dausa police not only for its brutality but for the chilling precision with which it was executed. Her husband, Mahesh Saini, a 37-year-old bank executive from Jaipur, is currently in police custody for the murder of his wife. He spent weeks researching how to use poison in a way that would weaken her without leaving any trace in the postmortem—a method so carefully calculated it almost allowed him to get away with murder. Mahesh, a resident of Barkat Nagar in Jaipur, laced a packet of chips with a sub-lethal dose of poison and gave it to Parul as the couple travelled toward Dausa. Police say he studied online videos on to understand exactly how much poison to use to incapacitate a person without immediately killing them or triggering red flags during a forensic examination.“He used celphos tablets that are used for controlling insects in stored wheat,” said Dy SP Dausa Ravi Prakash Sharma, who is heading the investigation. As Parul began to lose consciousness, Mahesh allegedly smothered her with calculated care, applying just enough pressure to ensure she didn’t survive—but not enough to leave any bruises or signs of struggle. tnn
