Kota: A 32-year-old married man shot himself to death after critically injuring his 29-year-old woman friend in a violent altercation late Friday night. The incident occurred around 10:30pm near the Mukundra Hills tiger reserve forest office, as Karan Gurjar and his lawyer friend, Purva Sharma, were riding a scooter together, police said.According to local police, the couple engaged in a heated argument that escalated quickly. In a moment of rage, Gurjar shot Sharma in the back of her head, leaving her severely injured and bleeding on the ground. Believing she was dead, Gurjar then turned the gun on himself, resulting in his immediate death.The tragic scene was discovered by a passing motorist, who alerted the authorities. Police reached the crime scene and transported both individuals to a hospital. Gurjar was declared dead upon arrival, while Sharma underwent emergency surgery and was said to be in stable condition, according to reports from the hospital.Circle Inspector at RK Puram police station Mahendra Maru confirmed the details, saying, “Gurjar was a history-sheeter with a criminal record, while the injured woman is an advocate. Both individuals were in a relationship despite Gurjar being married. His wife had left him a few months prior to this incident.”Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma said, “Gurjar, while riding on the back seat of Sharma’s scooter, shot her in the back of her head near the forest office Friday night and shortly after, shot himself to death.”Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have since handed over Gurjar’s body to his family after a post-mortem examination Saturday morning.The motive behind the tragic events was still under investigation, as authorities continued to gather information regarding the couple’s relationship and the events leading up to the shooting. Gurjar was a native of Kaithun town in Kota district, while Sharma is a resident of the Dadabari area in the city, police said.
