Jaipur: The city police Friday foiled an alleged fraud being run under the guise of a marketing company in the Kardhani area of the city, arresting 37 persons and seizing 13 cars.DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that acting on a tip-off, police raided Siyaram Marriage Garden on Lalchandpura Niwaru Road and arrested several suspects who came from outside Rajasthan. The accused, posing as representatives of a marketing and sales company, were reportedly visiting villages and colonies, luring people with expensive coupons and then handing over cheap products as prizes. Meena said the scheme was aimed at duping residents and causing them financial loss.A team was formed under the direction of Additional DCP Alok Singhal and the supervision of ACP Jhotwara Surendra Singh Ranawat. The operation was led by Kardhani SHO Sawai Singh. When police reached the spot, the suspects tried to conceal their presence and flee but were surrounded and detained. During questioning, they failed to give satisfactory answers, and further interrogation revealed their plan to carry out a cognizable offence through the fraudulent coupon distribution.All suspects were booked under Section 170 B NSS to prevent the commission of the crime. In addition, 13 vehicles parked at the site were seized under the Motor Vehicles Act for lack of valid documents. Police said investigations are underway to establish the scale of the fraud and identify the victims.
