Jaipur: Conviction rate in Rajasthan increased from 42% to 60% in one year since the implementation of new criminal laws, Union home minister Amit Shah said in the city on Monday. He was here to inaugurate a state-level exhibition on the three criminal laws, namely the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Describing the introduction of the new laws as the biggest reform of the 21st century, Shah said the country’s criminal justice system would soon become the most modern in the world. After 2027, justice will be delivered within three years, he said.Certain aspects of BNSS, including forensic analysis of offences punishable by imprisonment of seven or more years, rules to ensure electronic communication between police and court, and provisions to curb organised crime, are yet to be implemented, officials said. tnn
