Construction on Del-Mum e-way in state nears completion

Jaipur: Work is rapidly progressing on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, the longest expressway in India, as authorities in Rajasthan anticipate its completion by Sept this year. Spanning nearly 373-km through the state, about 338-km of the expressway have already been finished, with just 35-km left to construct.A critical segment of the expressway, measuring 27-km, traversing areas of Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, and Bundi districts, is currently under construction and nearing completion. Additionally, work is ongoing on a tunnel near Kota, though technical challenges have caused minor delays. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is designed as a high-speed corridor, allowing vehicles to travel at speeds up to 120-km per hour. To maintain safety and efficiency, slow-moving vehicles will be restricted from the main carriageway, while access will be limited to designated interchanges equipped with automated toll systems.Once operational, the expressway will dramatically reduce travel time in eastern Rajasthan. For instance, the current five-hour journey between Dausa and Kota will shrink to around two hours, offering substantial savings for both individuals and logistics operators. With surface improvements and final connectivity work wrapping up, the expressway promises to revolutionise transport in the region, including reducing the current nine-hour journey from Kota to Delhi to about five hours.According to a senior official from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the expressway is poised to enhance connectivity between the national capital and Mumbai significantly, promising to cut down travel time and fuel expenses. “Once the expressway is opened, travel between Delhi and Mumbai will become much more efficient,” the official said.
