JAIPUR: Congress MLAs on Thursday staged a protest inside the Rajasthan Assembly, wearing white T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan “PM is compromised,” targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the India–US trade deal. The legislators assembled near the main entrance of the Assembly complex, holding placards and raising slogans, before participating in House proceedings dressed in the same T-shirts. Opposition members alleged that the proposed trade agreement with the United States would hurt farmers and small traders. Congress MLA Amin Kagzi told reporters that the “prime minister stands compromised,” claiming that recent international disclosures had triggered serious concerns. Kagzi further alleged that the Centre’s policies were working against the interests of farmers and the country. MLA Ramniwas Gawriya echoed the criticism, saying that while Modi often speaks about farmers, government decisions fail to reflect those assurances. The protest comes days after a demonstration by Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers on Feb 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Around 10 IYC workers were detained after briefly raising slogans inside Exhibition Hall No. 5, police said. Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Mahla stated that the protesters had registered online to attend the event. They were seen wearing or carrying white T-shirts featuring images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, along with slogans such as “India–US Trade Deal,” “Epstein Files,” and “PM is compromised,” which led to heated exchanges with some attendees.
