Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday directed officials to include sector-specific sessions and organise an NRR Open House during Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on Dec 10. The sessions will highlight investment potential across various fields and allow non-resident Rajasthanis to engage with officials and stakeholders on business, tourism and development opportunities in the state.At a high-level review meeting on preparations for the event, Sharma said the initiative aimed to strengthen engagement with the global Rajasthani diaspora. He noted that Rajasthan’s tourism should expand beyond heritage to water-based and adventure tourism. “Rajasthan is known worldwide for its forts, palaces, and havelis. It’s time we develop new dimensions of tourism by introducing adventure and water-based experiences,” he said.He instructed that the tourism session feature experts from the travel and adventure industries and the education session bring together academicians and distinguished overseas Rajasthanis contributing to the field. For the health sector, he emphasised including representatives from medical, education, pharmaceuticals and health technology industries. He also underscored the importance of inviting experts in both modern and traditional water management techniques for the water resources session.Outstanding overseas Rajasthanis who have excelled in social, economic and industrial sectors will be honoured with Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Awards, with mementos reflecting Rajasthan’s traditional art and culture. Sharma first announced the concept of Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, declaring that Dec 10 would be celebrated annually to honour the Rajasthani diaspora. Pre-meets for the 2025 event have been held in Hyderabad, Surat and Kolkata, and a tourism pre-meet is scheduled for Nov.The review meeting was attended by industry and commerce minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, chief secretary Sudhansh Pant and other senior officials from concerned departments.
