Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma approved allocation of 1,102.72 hectares of land to the forest department under the forest land diversion process, aiming to fast-track the Ramjal Setu Link Project (RSLP), also known as the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).The approval covers four separate proposals involving the diversion of forest land impacted by key components of the RSLP. These include the under-construction Ramgarh and Mahlpur barrages, along with the Navnera-Galwa-Bisalpur-Isarda Link Project.According to officials, the approved land includes 427.59 hectares in Kishanganj tehsil, 284.09 hectares in Chhabra tehsil, and 362.95 hectares in Chhipabarod tehsil—all located in Baran district. Additionally, 28.08 hectares of non-forest land from the Reserved Land Fund in Alwar district will be allocated to the Forest Department free of cost.Officials described the move as a critical step toward accelerating the implementation of the ERCP, a flagship water infrastructure project designed to meet the irrigation and drinking water needs of eastern Rajasthan. tnn
