Class 11 student stabbed to death over social media reels

Kota: A 17-year-old student of Class 11 was hit with iron rods and stabbed with a knife by 2-3 youths, allegedly due to a rivalry over likes on social media reels, in Prem Nagar under Udhyog Nagar police station here late Tuesday night. The boy sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.The deceased was identified as Shubham Sain, 17, resident of Jaga Basti in Prem Nagar. Circle inspector (CI) at Udhyog Nagar, Jitendra Singh, said Shubham was attacked while he was returning home from a marriage party.Shubham sustained fatal injuries to his stomach and collapsed, bleeding at the spot. He was rushed to New Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, he added.On the report by family members, police lodged a case of murder against 2 youths, identified as Vishal and Raj Baccha, who fled from the scene after the crime and are yet to be traced, the CI said.Police’s initial inquiry revealed that a rivalry existed between Shubham and the accused over likes on their social media reels, the CI said. However, a thorough investigation is yet to be carried out, he added.Police handed over the body to family members after postmortem on Wednesday morning, he said.
