Jaipur: A day after the citywide mock air raid drill was conducted to check the security preparedness of the public, Jaipur district administration is now planning to start special civil defence training in schools and offices for better preparation.In the mock drill conducted Wednesday, public awarenessand response to the blackout drill received mixed responses across different areas. The civil defence team in Jaipur is now preparing a plan on how to plug the gaps and work on awareness among residents, which will be sent to the district administration.On Thursday, the sound range of sirens installed in the city was checked as residents from several localities said that they could not hear it Wednesday. Out of the 12 sirens installed in the city, the sound range of 10 was checked Thursday.“We are checking the distance covered by the existing sirens installed in Jaipur and mapping areas where more sirens need to be installed. Around 10 more sirens are needed in Jaipur city for complete coverage as the city has expanded rapidly in the past few years. Training will also be conducted in schools, govt departments, and offices, especially regarding safe evacuation during emergencies,” said a senior official from the civil defence team in Jaipur.The Jaipur civil defence team has already received applications from four govt offices to conduct training, added the official. Trained volunteers of NCC and Scouts can be engaged as per the need to assist in relief and rehabilitation work in compliance with the instructions issued by the district administration.
