Jaipur: The State Election Commission (SEC) is set to announce dates next week for by-elections to eight wards across seven urban local bodies (ULBs), including Ward 63 of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Heritage, with polls scheduled for early August.This development appears to contradict the Local Self Government department’s plan to hold simultaneous elections for all ULBs statewide by December 2025, potentially signalling a delay in the proposed ‘One State One Election’ initiative.SEC secretary Nalini Kathotia confirmed on Friday that the commission intends to proceed with the by-polls due to long-vacant seats.
