Jaipur/Jhunjhunu: Cold wave conditions continued unabated across the state for the second consecutive day Monday, with the mercury dipping to shiveringly low levels in several places. Vanasthali in Tonk district recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 4.1°C, colder than the 4.4°C registered in the state’s only station of Mount Abu.Several places witnessed dense fog in the morning, which affected vehicular traffic, rail movements and some flights at Jaipur International Airport. Attributing the cold wave to active western disturbances, the Met office said similar conditions were likely to continue into Tuesday. Jaipur witnessed its harshest cold spell of the season so far Monday, recording both the lowest minimum and maximum temperatures of the season at 6.8°C and 14.8°C, respectively. Normal life across the city was impacted, with many streets looking deserted as morning walkers largely stayed indoors. According to the Met department, cold wave conditions are likely to persist in the next 24 hours.
