Chittorgarh police arrest man for cyber fraud

Bhilwara: Chittorgarh police Monday arrested a member of a cyber fraud gang from Alwar. The accused, Mahendra Kumar Bairwa (26), a resident of New Colony Kaimala in Alwar, was detained and arrested after interrogation.Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi told TOI that a person from Chittorgarh filed a report at the cyber police station stating that on Nov 6 at 11:35 pm, he received a WhatsApp video call from a woman who had covered her face. The caller again called him and began blackmailing him, threatening to upload their conversation and video on the social media. The victim immediately deleted the calls and messages and blocked the number. Tripathi added that the complainant then received a WhatsApp call from other numbers displaying police pictures. The fraudsters demanded money in exchange for not uploading the video on YouTube. The complainant was asked to transfer Rs 19,500. Suspecting it to be a scam, he filed a report on 1930 immediately and the transfer of money was stopped. The cyber police team, under ASP Sarita Singh, traced and detained the account holder, Mahendra Kumar Bairwa from Alwar and brought him to the station Monday.
