Jaipur: Four months after shifting the Narayan Singh Circle bus stand to two locations on Delhi Road and one on Agra Road in Transport Nagar, passengers continue to face hardships as the govt has failed to upgrade basic infrastructure at these three sites. The relocated bus stands lack essential facilities such as lighting, washrooms, drinking water, sheds, and seating, causing inconvenience to commuters.“One major problem with the Delhi Road bus stand is the lack of proper lighting. It becomes pitch dark after sunset. With no terminal building, you are compelled to stand at one corner of the Delhi Road in the dark until your bus arrives,” said Ramkesh Meena, a regular Jaipur-Behror commuter.Passengers complained that in the absence of these amenities, it becomes very difficult to use these stands, especially during the monsoon. They claimed the sheds are not enough to accommodate all passengers waiting for their buses together.“We are helpless. Forget about passengers, even our employees are compelled to sit beneath a tree inside the roadways’ bus stand on the corner of Agra Road leading to the Ghat ki Guni,” said an official from the Rajasthan State Roadways Development Corporation (RSRTC).RSRTC officials claimed that there are plans to construct a new terminal building inside the bus terminal next to the Rotary (Jawahar Nagar) Crossing. The terminal would house a waiting lounge, shops, ticket counters, and offices of the roadways.“We just started designing the structure. We need various approvals before floating the tender for construction. It would take some time,” said an RSRTC official.Furthermore, cab and auto drivers said that there was no designated space for passenger drop-offs or pick-ups. “We don’t face much problem while dropping a passenger. But police don’t allow us to stand on Delhi Road and on the corner of the Agra Road. It becomes difficult for us to pick up passengers. We requested several times to designate a space for cabs and autos at these stands,” said Kuldeep Singh Issar, president of an auto association.
