Bhilwara tops state in ‘Give Up’ campaign

Bhilwara: Bhilwara district has emerged as the state leader in the ongoing ‘Give Up’ campaign to weed out ineligible beneficiaries from the National Food Security Act (NFSA). So far, 1.47 lakh individuals have voluntarily surrendered their ration entitlements, District Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu said. The drive, spearheaded by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies till Oct 31, encourages those capable of foregoing subsidised foodgrain to do so, making room for the genuinely needy. Bhilwara administration prepared three lists—beneficiaries not lifting rations for years, high-income families, and cases of the deceased or migrated—and carried out verification. De-duplication of ration cards was also undertaken. Sandhu said new eligible families will now be added to the NFSA rolls. He urged residents to update their status or voluntarily give up their entitlements before the deadline, warning of action against those found ineligible after scrutiny.
