Jaisalmer: Though Jaisalmer district administration has denied permission, Baytu MLA Harish Chaudhary Friday said that he would visit Basanpeer Saturday to deliver a message promoting unity of Thar.Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary said that Section 163 had been imposed in Basanpeer by the district magistrate, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people. The district administration had not granted permission to Chaudhary for his visit. If Chaudhary attempts to enter Jaisalmer with a large number of vehicles and people, he would be stopped at the district border as a precaution. The police had implemented strict measures to maintain law and order, he said.During a press conference in Barmer Friday, Chaudhary announced that he, along with supporters of Thar’s culture and civilisation, would depart from Barmer Circuit House at 10am to travel to Basanpeer in Jaisalmer district. He called on everyone to join in spreading the message of love.Chaudhary expressed concerns about the erosion of brotherhood and unity in Thar and the increasing spread of hatred in the region. He stated that they intended to establish a “shop of love” Saturday.Chaudhary criticised the ruling authorities for creating a discriminatory and one-sided environment by pressuring the administration, describing the situation as extremely unfortunate. He noted that the current circumstances in Basanpeer caused distress and hurt among conscientious citizens.According to Chaudhary, the issue could have been resolved through mutual dialogue and peaceful efforts, but the administration’s biased actions led to deep disappointment and dissatisfaction among the public.He appealed to all respected citizens of Basanpeer to maintain peace, restraint, and harmony and to cooperate with law enforcement. Chaudhary emphasised the responsibility of preserving Thar’s tradition of unity and social harmony.
