Jaipur: Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Tikaram Jully, Tuesday criticised the absence of the entire state govt during what he described as the largest national-level mock drill. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to immediately release the Rajasthan govt from what he called “political quarantine” so that they can return and perform their more urgent duties related to public safety and national preparedness. He pointed out that while the country is undergoing this major drill, the entire Rajasthan govt is missing in action. “The chief minister, the home minister, both deputy chief ministers, the civil defence minister, and the entire cabinet along with BJP MLAs are not even present in the state,” he said.He noted that such a significant drill requires close monitoring by the state leadership. “It is essential that the chief minister and his cabinet be present in Rajasthan during this time. But instead, the BJP govt has gone on what seems like a picnic to Gujarat,” he remarked, referring to the ongoing BJP good governance training programme at Kevadia.Jully emphasised Rajasthan’s strategic importance, stating that after J&K, Rajasthan shares the longest land border with Pakistan, making it even more critical for the state leadership to remain present and alert.
