Kota: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Tuesday arrested an assistant manager of a Rajasthan Rural Bank branch in Kota for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.The accused, identified as Atul Singh, a permanent resident of Lucknow, was posted at the bank’s Ayana branch. Officials said he had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to sanction the second instalment of a Rs 24.5 lakh home loan. The amount was reportedly negotiated down later to Rs 40,000.“The accused had come to the complainant’s house Tuesday to collect the bribe. An ACB team was on site and arrested him after recovering the money from his possession,” Kota assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Vijay Swarnkar said.Officials in Kota ACB said the complaint in this case was originally registered on Oct 9, and officers verified the allegations the next day when the bribe amount was being negotiated.Further investigation into the case remains ongoing, they added.
