Jaipur: Amit Thanvi and Anshul Vyas bagged the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the TTFI-2 Open State Table Tennis Championship 2025 which concluded here at Wonkar Table Tennis Academy, Vaishali Nagar, after five days of keenly contested matches across various categories.In the all-important men’s singles final, Amit Thanvi of Sirohi emerged champion after a thrilling seven-game encounter, defeating Akshat Sharma (Jaipur) 4-3. The women’s singles crown was claimed by Anshul Vyas (Jodhpur), who thumped Maulisha Thanvi 4-2 in the final.In the veteran men’s categories, Vijay Pancholi won titles in both the 39 plus and 49 plus age groups, while Nirmal Choudhary triumphed in the 59 plus and 64 plus categories beating former international player Pramod Patni in 64 plus in the final. HS Alag emerged winner in the 69 plus group, and Mukund Modi secured the top spot in the 74 plus section. In the women’s veteran category, Ruchi Gupta reigned supreme.The organisers stated that performances in this championship will be considered for selection of players and teams for upcoming National Table Tennis Championships. During the closing ceremony, winners and runners-up were awarded trophies, certificates, and cash prizes by prominent senior TT players of their time including former international players Tina Chandrima, Abhay Gupta, and Pramod Patni, along with Ashok Kalla, Tappan Mukerjee, and Hema Shah, wife of Vijay Shah, in whose memory the veteran championship was dedicated.The championship provided a strong competitive platform and significantly contributed to the promotion of table tennis in the state.
