Alwar: A 48-year-old woman was hacked to death with an axe while she slept at her home in Alwar district’s Khedli Pichnaut village Sunday evening, and her husband has been arrested, police said.Police said Kaluram Meena returned home around 6 pm after grazing goats and found his wife, Puni Devi, asleep on a cot. He allegedly picked up an axe kept nearby and struck multiple blows on her neck, hands and legs. She died on the spot.After family members learnt of the incident, Malakheda police station was informed. A post-mortem was conducted Monday and the body was handed over to the family. Police arrested Kaluram Meena Monday.Malakheda station in-charge Hardayal Singh Yadav said a case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Dhanpal Meena of Dubbi. “The accused murdered his wife by attacking her with an axe,” he said.Yadav said neighbours claimed Kaluram had similarly murdered his own five-year-old child about 15 years ago, but no police complaint was filed at the time.Police said the couple lived with their 25-year-old unmarried son, Sheru, a labourer who was away for work when the incident occurred.
