Ajmer: Villagers from Chundari in Ajmer’s Silora block protested at the district collectorate Thursday against a notification shifting the Silora gram panchayat office from Chundari to Badgao and submitted a memorandum to the district collector, warning of a larger protest.Villagers said Chundari became the gram panchayat headquarters in 2005, but a post-reorganisation notification moved the office to Badgao. “Badgao village is on the other side of the national highway, and to reach the gram panchayat office, villagers must cross the highway, which is dangerous as there is no underpass, and that stretch of the highway is on the list of black spots,” said a villager, adding it would increase accidents. In a separate protest, villagers from Pachhipala in Arai block demonstrated at the central block education officer’s office on Thursday against shifting their government school to Motipura and submitted a memorandum seeking to run classes in the village community hall.Villagers said Pachhipala’s primary school building is dilapidated, leading the education department to close it and merge it with the Motipura school. The memorandum stated Motipura is about 3 km away and traffic on the road would deter children from attending.Residents of nearby Jayoni ki Dhani also submitted a memorandum demanding that the primary school in their village, currently operating in a rented building, continue.
